Birds and Butterfly Plants

Want your yard to be the local hotspot for songbirds, hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators? PlantsbyMail has the bird and butterfly plants for you!

Don’t know where to begin? Don’t worry, we have a few suggestions.

Plants to Attract Songbirds

Hollies, Arborvitaes, Viburnums, and Camellias are perfect candidates for attracting local birds. Their thick and sturdy branches are reliable and secure. Consequently, birds feel safe crafting nests and taking shelter in them.
If you’re going to have birds stick around in your yard, though, you’re going to need some food for them. Blueberries and Echinacea are popular food sources for local songbirds. Blueberries provide late spring and summer food, while Echinaceas provide winter seeds. Additionally, some Hollies, Arborvitaes, and Viburnum produce berries or cones. These always make appreciated snacks for hungry birds late in the season.

Hummingbird and Butterfly Plants

Hummingbirds and Butterflies love bright orange, red, and hot pink blooms. Therefore, they enjoy the colorful blossoms of plants like the Weigela, Salvia, and Tecoma. These selections produce bright tubular blooms, perfect for housing nectar.
