Azaleas are flowering shrubs in the genus Rhododendron that include deciduous and evergreen varieties. Azaleas bloom for several weeks in spring and prefer to live in part sun locations. In the 1990’s Buddy Lee invented the Encore Azalea collection, which were breed to bloom up to three times per year. Plant Encores in locations that will receive 4-6 hours of sun per day.
All Azaleas are acid loving plants should be planted in locations with a pH(4.5-6.0). The pH is correct maximizes nutrient uptake, over-all plant health, and bloom production.
