The Amethyst Falls wisteria vine is an eye-catching blooming vine with purple colored flowers that bloom in the spring and summer months. Native to North America Amethyst Falls Wisteria is a cultivar of Wisteria frutescens.
The woody stems of Wisteria vines often grow to reach lengths of 30 ft or more while producing a cascade of lavender to blue clusters of fragrantly sweet flowers. Compared to others you will find that the Amethyst Falls Wisteria is smaller in size to other Wisteria vines making it more suitable for smaller gardens or maybe even for use as a container plant.
Wisteria prefers a moist, well drained fertile soil, but that is not to say that it will not and cannot successfully grow in other conditions such as sandy and other poor soils. When grown in ideal soil conditions Wisteria needs no fertilizing. In less than ideal conditions Wisteria may benefit from a light feeding of a fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic Plant Tone, in the spring.
Wisteria vines are highly adaptable and even drought resistant once they are established!
