About Bigfoot™ Cleyera

As the name may suggest, “Bigfoot” is the largest of the three Cleyeras offered by the Southern Living Plant Collection. It is able to reach heights of 15 to 20ft and 5-6ft wide which makes it ideal for usage as a large uniform hedge. New foliage on the Bigfoot Cleyera will emerge with a crisp bronze-green appearance, then shortly turn to a dark glossy green. As autumn comes around, the Bigfoot’s foliage develops a bronze-red hue that fits in perfectly with the new colors of the season. This Cleyera will respond to pruning and shearing, allowing one to sculpt their natural privacy screen to their particular liking. Plant the ‘Bigfoot’ Cleyera in part shade to full sun, and slightly acidic soil for best performance.

Bigfoot Cleyera Spacing Recommendations

For a seamless planting, space your Bigfoot Cleyera 4 feet apart from plant center to plant center. For space between plantings, plant them 7+ feet apart.

I received my plants and they were all in excellent condition. I will definitely be making more purchases. Thank you!

I was very impressed by the packaging and most of all the plants themselves are gorgeous, good size, and just beautiful. Like the other reviewer. I hope they’ll flourish. I’m giving it a four star only because I haven’t planted them in the ground yet.

Plants received in good order Wednesday afternoon via UPS. Went into ground (along with compost, peat & Healthy Start organic 3-4-3 fertilizer) & mulched on Thursday. It’s only Friday. There are showers today here on L.I. (zone 7) in N.Y.
    Perfect for newly planted material.
It’s early in the season, the first of April, & these plants have a long way to go before they provide the living green screen that I’m anticipating. They appear healthy. I’m hopeful that they’ll flourish. Thank you.
