The Coppertone Distylium from the First Editions collection of plants is an exceptional low maintenance evergreen shrub that is great for foundation, and mid-sized hedge plantings. New foliage emerges with a coppery-red color that matures to blue-green. During the winter months this Distylium produces tons of petite red blooms along its stems for additional winter interest. These plants are also remarkably tough with the ability to tolerate drought, heat, insects, and diseases. Vintage Jade grows best when planted in well-drained slightly acidic soil and in a full sun to part shade location. Many people use these as a substitute for boxwoods and hollies as a low hedge or anywhere they might want low-maintenance evergreen shrubs.
For a seamless planting, plant your Coppertone Distylium 3-3.5 feet apart. Otherwise, space them 4-5+ feet apart to leave space between shrubs.
