Fiber Optics® from First Editions® is a distinct improvement over the coarser native buttonbush that grows twice the size of this compact selection. Pollinators love the fragrant, creamy white, ball-shaped flowers that form in early summer. Native from Florida to Mexico and north to Nova Scotia and Ontario, buttonbush is happy in moist conditions, tolerating flooding and wet spring soil. As such it is often used in wetland restoration work, along streams and pond banks. It’s also a great plant for low areas in the landscape that don’t dry out until late in the season.
Spacing Your Fiber Optics Buttonbush
For a seamless planting, plant your Fiber Optics Buttonbush 3-4 feet apart. Otherwise, space them 5-6 feet apart for gaps between plants.
This variety goes dormant from Fall to Spring. If ordered in this time period the plants will arrive dormant.
