This new exciting hydrangea from the Proven Winners collection will quickly become one of your favorite summertime bloomers! Originating from the Netherlands, ‘Limelight’ is a true show stopper producing 6 to 12-inch soft green blooms from late spring into fall when their color will change to pink. In early spring while Limelight is still dormant you will want to deadhead/prune one-third of the height of the plant and follow this by applying a slow release fertilizer to ensure a well-fed plant that will produce tons of blooms!

The Limelight Hydrangea from Proven Winners has become the talk-of-the-town in just a short period of time! This Paniculata hydrangea produces gorgeous lime-green blooms in mid-summer that turn to a brilliant green-white. These panicle flowers reach 6-12 inches across, and eventually fade to pink in early fall. Cut flower lovers will appreciate the long-lived nature of Limelight bloom clusters!

Light green leaves glow in the sun from spring through fall. Later, this deciduous shrub will go dormant at the first frost of winter.

A mature height of 6-8′ H x 6-8′ W gives you numerous options on ways to use this selection. Try the Limelight as a mass planting, hedge, container planting, or specimen.

Limelight Hydrangea Care

Plant in USDA Zones 3-9

The Limelight Hydrangea prefers Full to Filtered Sun. Too little sun will result in this Hydrangea having a lighter bloom cycle. However, gardeners closer to the equator should provide the bulk of sun in the morning to prevent undue stress from afternoon sun.

This hydrangea is tolerant of most soil types, but well-draining, rich soil will provide the best results.

We recommend watering 3-4 times a week during the first few months after planting. During this time, check regularly to ensure that your plant is neither drying out or staying soggy. Afterwards, you can reduce that to around 2-3 times a week, if needed. Once your Limelight Hydrangea has been in your landscape for a couple growing seasons, you’ll only need to supply supplemental watering during notably dry weeks.

In early spring, while your Limelight is still dormant, prune one-third of the height of the plant. Paniculata hydrangeas bloom on new growth, so have no fear that you’re removing potential blooms!

Apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer (such as a 10-10-10) to encourage rapid growth and bountiful blooming!

Spacing Your Limelight Hydrangea

Space Your Limelight Hydrangea 5 feet apart for a seamless planting. Otherwise, plant them 8+ feet apart to leave space between shrubs.
