Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon japonicas), sometimes called Monkey Grass, is a smaller ornamental grass that is a dwarf cousin of the family of larger ornamental Liriopes (Lily Turf). Compared to Liriopes that can grow up to two feet tall, Mondo grass will top out at 6-8″ tall. The dark green evergreen blades of this grass are roughly 1/8” inch wide. In early summer this grass will produce insignificant white flower spikes that will give way to blue berries in autumn. This decorative grass is great to use in the landscape along walkways, driveways, rock gardens, groundcovers, or under densely branched trees such as Oaks and Magnolias.
For a seamless planting, space your Mondo Grass 6-8 inches apart from plant center to plant center. For space between plantings, plant them 1+ feet-foot apart.
