About October Magic® Rose™ Camellia (Sasanqua)

The October Magic Rose Camellia from the Southern Living Plant Collection creates an explosion of color during the fall and winter seasons. Small salmon-rose double flowers appear in clusters as other plants are just beginning to lose their leaves. The dark emerald green leaves provide an eye-catching, glossy background that contrasts elegantly with the rich magenta blooms. This evergreen has a dense, uniform habit that makes maintaining the October Magic Rose effortless. Camellias thrive in slightly acidic soil, and applying a slow-release granular fertilizer yearly will keep this plant vigorous and productive.

Spacing Your October Magic Rose Camellia

Space Your October Magic Rose Camellia 2-3 feet apart for a seamless planting. Otherwise, plant them 4+ feet apart to leave space between shrubs.

  1. Alvin Anderson (verified owner)

I love my new Camellia! The plant I received was larger than expected, and full of flower buds, that should open in October, as the October Magics usually bloom.

  2. mastergardener6606 (verified owner)

Healthy plant with many buds. Will be beautiful in my landscape.

  3. Paula

October Magic Rose is truly magical...LOADS of peony shaped rose-salmon color blossoms the first year. Healthy shoots and dark glossy leaves all year long. It is ready for Fall 2020 bloom fest. It requires no fussing over, and loves sun & heat.
