About Premier Blueberry Bush

The Premier Blueberry is a deciduous/semi-evergreen plant and will go dormant during the winter months. When this plant is ordered during the Fall/Winter expect seasonal foliage decline(discoloration, spots, leaf drop) or the plant to arrive completely dormant.

For an extra 5% off your order of deciduous plants use coupon code: DormantPlant2020

What to do when a dormant plant arrives:

  1. Unpackage on arrival and water
  2. Your plant will be ready to be planted in the landscape or in a container on arrival, or if you wish you can keep your new plant in its container until spring that is ok too
    • If planting in the landscape
      • Consider using a root stimulating fertilizer to get your plant working hard establishing its root system during the winter months
      • Use a heavy Layer of mulch to protect the unestablished roots from frost
  3. Dormant plants do require some watering: once a week should be sufficient
  4. When Spring arrives and your plant begins showing signs of new growth increase your watering schedule to 2 times every 7 to ten days until established, then water as needed. Apply a slow-release granular fertilizer to give your plant a great start

The Premier Blueberry is a prolific fruit producing variety from the rabbit-eye family. This selection is naturally heat tolerant which makes it well suited for growing in the southeastern United States(USDA Zones: 7-9), but will not fair well colder climates.

Early in Spring Premier will be covered with white and pink bell-shaped blooms, then will yield large dark blue blueberries in late-spring to early summer. Planting with other varieties of Blueberries for cross-pollination will vastly increase and improve fruit production.

For best results plant in a location that receives full sun and in soil that is acidic and rich with organic matter. Annually, Use a slow-release acidic fertilizer on your blueberry plants.

To create full sun mixed beds of year-round interest incorporating edible plants we suggest planting with: Drift® Roses, Gardenias, or Sunshine Ligustrum

This plant will arrive dormant if ordered from Fall- Early Spring

Premier Blueberry Spacing Recommendations

Space the plants at least 5 feet apart in a row. This spacing will create a hedgerow or border as the plants mature. If you plan on planting several rows of blueberries, space the rows at least 10 to 12 feet apart.
