The Premier Blueberry is a prolific fruit-producing variety from the rabbit-eye family. This selection is naturally heat tolerant which makes it well suited for growing in the southeastern United States(USDA Zones: 7-10), but will not fair well in colder climates.
Early in Spring Premier will be covered with white and pink bell-shaped blooms, then will yield large dark blue blueberries in late spring to early summer. Planting with other varieties of Blueberries for cross-pollination will vastly increase and improve fruit production.
For best results plant in a location that receives full sun to partial shade and in soil that is acidic and rich with organic matter. Annually, Use a slow-release acidic fertilizer on your blueberry plants.
To create full sun mixed beds of year-round interest incorporating edible plants we suggest planting with: Drift® Roses, Gardenias, or Sunshine Ligustrum
*The Premier Blueberry is a deciduous/semi-evergreen plant and will go dormant during the winter months. When this plant is ordered during the Fall/Winter expect seasonal foliage decline(discoloration, spots, leaf drop) or the plant to arrive completely dormant.*
Space the plants at least 5 feet apart in a row. This spacing will create a hedgerow or border as the plants mature. If you plan on planting several rows of blueberries, space the rows at least 10 to 12 feet apart.
