The Southern Living Plant Collection has recently released the Sunbow series of native Azaleas that bring exceptional color to the spring landscape. These native azaleas are deciduous and will go dormant during the winter. While they are dormant Sunbow Azaleas will set their buds on their branch tips, so you do not want to trim them until after you get your spring blooms! The Solar Flare Sunbow Azalea produces neon yellow single form blooms with shades of orange that have a sweet honey-suckle like fragrance that is great for attracting butterflies. These Azaleas grow well in a light shade to full sun location, and should be planted in well-drained slightly acidic soil and fertilized early every spring with a slow release granular fertilizer.
