About White African Iris

The White African Iris(Fortnight Lily) is a tall grass-like perennial that produces beautiful white flowers with yellow and blue-purple markings. These will produce flowers that only last one day, but will quickly re-bloom in cycles from Spring into Fall.

With a naturally clumping growth habit, they reach 2-3′ H x 2-3′ W at maturity. Therefore, they’re extremely low-maintenance. They’re also heat and humidity tolerant once established. Use them in containers, borders, mixed garden beds, near ponds, and mass plantings.

They are perennial in USDA Zones 8 to 11 and annual outside of those zones. They’re a great addition to seasonal long-blooming annual containers.

White African Iris Care

Perennial in USDA Zones 8-11 and Annual in Zones 7 and below.

Plant in Full Sun to Part Sun for best results. Too little sunlight exposure leads to decreased bloom and foliage potential.

Water 2-3 times per week during the first growing season to ensure that it gets well-established.

The White African Iris will grow best in rich garden soil with good drainage.

This variety requires little fertilizer, however, a light application of a balanced organic fertilizer ensures that it will stay happy and healthy.

Spacing Recommendations

Space your White African Iris plants about 1-2′ apart for seamless foliage. Space them over a foot apart to leave space between each plant.
