Description
Description
The Dwarf Juniper Procumbens Nana is a compact low-growing ground cover with bluish-grey foliage that will remain evergreen even in the harshest winter conditions. The slow growth and short needle foliage provide a soft appearance in the landscape, maturing to an average size of 6 inches to 1 foot tall and spreading between 4 - 6 feet. In the winter, the foliage may take on a purple hue.
Dwarf Japanese Garden Juniper 'Nana' is one of the most popular bonsai trees due to the ease of training and pruning. They are also commonly used in rock and Asian-inspired gardens as well as in containers on patios. Also, this plant is often selected for bonsai growing and small topiaries. If space permits the spreading nature of this groundcover juniper, it will take on a mounding shape or may even begin to grow over obstacles such as low walls or small rocks.

Try not to remove all growing tips simultaneously when pruning, as the leaves may turn brown and the whole plant may decline. Instead, trim dense foliage areas with small, sharp pruning shears.
