What is the USDA Zone Map?

“The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is the standard by which gardeners and growers can determine which plants are most likely to thrive at a location. The map is based on the average annual minimum winter temperature, divided into 10-degree F zones.”

The USDA has released an interactive map to make it easy for you to find your USDA Growing Zone. Just follow the link below to get your zone and then you can pick out plants based on that zone below.

What is a last/first frost date? – First and Last frost dates are predictions that are based on historical data for your area that has been collected over the last 50+ years. These predictions are 50% accurate so pushing your planting back in spring by 1-2 weeks after your areas frost date, or 1-2 weeks before your fall frost date will help prevent your brand new plants from experiencing frosts.
